Come and see The
Douglas Fir live:
Pete Caldes
- Drums
Patrick Cooley - Bass
Albert Gualtieri - Guitar
Jay Walsh - Vocals / Guitars
A monumental debut album with vivid lyrical narratives and spectacular
songwriting.
The Fir may share similar influences to NYC early 80's revivalists Interpol,
Longwave and The Walkmen.
But they beat those bands to the punch... Don't miss out on this one!
-The Big Takeover
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Douglas Fir
fill an entire disc with gorgeous claustrophobic melancholy pop.
The band recreates the somber ennui of those old Smiths, Cure and Nick
Cave albums,
while giving them a slightly more lucious sonic bed to lounge in, complete
with
astonishing power and moody atmospherics.
-Amplifier Magazine
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Fir have a distinct
flair for the melodramatic. The band shows particular promise...
-Magnet Magazine
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Douglas Fir have a flair for the cinematic. They make music that
has the chiming
grandeur and air of mystery that surround highly literate, lyrically
romantic bands
such as the Smiths, Aztec Camera, and the Go-Betweens.
-The Boston Globe
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boston's Douglas Fir are very promising...
The band shows off edgy pop muscle without covering up its melodies...
